After holding a private meeting with Minister François-Philippe Champagne, the Venezuelan leader and the representative of Canada, they offered a joint press conference on January 27.
In his first statements to the Champagne press, he said he was honored to receive Guaidó and made reference to the crisis facing the country.
“It is a great honor for Canada to receive President Guaidó. The situation in Venezuela was worsened by the actions of the Nicolás Maduro regime, ”the Canadian minister told the media.
For his part, Guaidó said he felt confident “that with this support and pressure from the Democrats we can achieve a democratic transition that allows us to have a really free presidential election.”
“We are already preparing the return to Venezuela, one of the fundamental parts in exerting pressure on the dictatorship has been internal mobilization … I am here at this international tour stop on behalf of those Venezuelans who have no voice, on behalf of our indigenous ethnic groups that are being displaced and massacred, ”he said. He called for taking and reinforcing measures that put an end to the constant violation of Human Rights (Human Rights) in Venezuela, by the regime of Nicolás Maduro.
